The Master of Sports Administration and Leadership can play a role in realizing the objectives of the National Sports Policy above by providing expertise, human resources and training. National Sports Policy - its main objectives:

  1. Build a healthy, disciplined and united society.
  2. Provide opportunities and facilities to meet fundamental social, psychological and physiological needs.
  3. Develop and enhance the knowledge and practice of sports to fulfill the social needs of the individual.
  4. Achieve excellence at the highest level in the true spirit of sportsmanship.

The program directly supports the demands of organizations and the growing sports industry from the global level to the grassroots level for all types of sports in the country. The rapid development of the Malaysian sports industry includes the development of sports facilities (stadiums), sports services (events, sports tourism, media, sports medicine) and sports goods (shoes, clothing) all of which require knowledgeable and highly skilled administrators and leaders.

Public and private sector locally and/or abroad with units responsible for the administration and leadership of sports, and includes voluntary bodies. This unit requires professional, knowledgeable and skilled personnel for administration and for efficient and effective sports leadership.

  1. Band 5.5 ≥ IELTS Academic.
  2. Score 550 (PBT) / 213 (CBT) / 80 (IBT) in TOEFL.
  3. Band 4 ≥ MUET.
  4. Score 42 ≥ PTE Academic.
  5. Grade C ≥ English Language in A Level, Univ. of Cambridge.
  6. Grade C ≥ Cambridge Assessment English: First (FCE).
  7. Grade C ≥ Cambridge Assessment English: First CAE.
  8. Grade C ≥ Cambridge Assessment English: First (CPE).

Entry Requirement

LOCAL & INTERNATIONAL STUDENT  

(i) Applicants with a Bachelor’s degree with CGPA of 3.0 and above in a sports-related field will have priority for admission AND pass interview .

OR


(ii) Applicants with a Bachelor’s degree with CGPA of 3.0 and above in any field must fulfil one (1) of the below criteria AND pass interview: 

A. have experience as a high performance athlete; OR  
B. have at least one (1) year of working experience in a sports field: OR  
C. Have at least three (3) years of working experience in any field  

OR

(iii) Applicants with a Bachelor’s degree with CGPA of 2.7 to 2.99 may be considered if they fulfil at least one of the following criteria AND pass interview:

A.a graduate of the Universiti Malaya; priority will be given to the graduand of sports-related field 
B.has relevant three (3) years work experience; five (5) years in any field 
C.has produced publications in relevant fields 
D.is a scholarship recipient 
E.is a government agency staff 

OR

(iv) Applicants with a Bachelor's degree with CGPA of 2.5 to 2.69 may be considered if they fulfill at least ONE (for UM graduate)/TWO (for non UM graduate) of the following criteria AND pass interview:

A.has revelant five (5) years work experience; 
B.has produced publications in relevant fields; 
C.is a scholarship recipient; 
D.is a government agency staff; 

OR

(v) other qualifications approved by the Senate from time to time

OR

(vi)APEL (A)

INTERNATIONAL STUDENT

i.Has other qualifications recognized equivalent to it by the Government of Malaysia and approved by the Senate of the Universiti Malaya; and 
ii.Must have at least IELTS band 5.5 or TOEFL score 550 (paper based)
